Need copy of Stars & Stripes Forever in D maj/G maj

Post by Dean E »

Does anyone have a link or pdf of Stars & Stripes forever, for orchestra, in D major, then G major at the trio?

The copy I was given by a volunteer orchestra is about a 20th generation copy and nearly illegible. This particular concert is over, but I'd like to have a more readable copy for my files.

Thanks,
Dean E

Thanks, Joe. That makes two of us.

I could splice in a piece of concert black-colored heater hose to the tuning slide, and the sound would be an improvement on my playing in those sharp keys while fighting muscle memory from playing the band part on Eb, BBb, CC, and F horns. That would be like a capo for tuba!

Looks like something to be read down an octave. Coming from trombone/euph that actually is my preferred way of reading contrabass tuba parts. Fewer ledger lines.

Yeah. It's a Bass part and string basses are written an octave higher than it sounds. Like piccolos are written an octave below where they sound.

Here's a tuba part based on the Brion/Schissel wind ensemble arrangement. I typeset a string bass part last year when I played with the OSU Wind Ensemble and it was an easy matter to transpose it down a half step and then an octave. This should be very close to the original Sousa tuba part. I can send a .pdf if you need one...just send a PM.

Hi!
I just found a good copy in my local Orch.'s Library, but I see you have what you need! Nice work, Todd! I'm used to transposing as a doubler on Bass, but it's always nice to just read the ink!
Now if we could only stop Frederick Fennel and others from editing down Sousa's Tuba parts, especially in the dogfight section(s)!
