REKA products

Post by JayW »

Since cleaning your instrument has found its way into many topics posted, I had a question for any who clean there own instruments or some of the resident repair experts: Has anyone used the REKA -DES instrument cleaner, along with the "tuba" cleaning kit that they make? I have seen it in WW and BW and decided to order it to give it a try. But was wondering before I open the package if anyone else has an opinion of these products? The DES cleaner is supposed to remove mineral deposits as well as grease/grime etc..etc. Just wondering.

If you're reffering to the cleaning kit with the orange sponges attached, yes I use the euphonium version. I like it a lot, it cleans really well, and since all of it in rubber or plastic, you won't stratch anything. The snake is nice, the only thing is that since it is plastic and not a metal flexible rod, you can't push the snake...only feed the tip through and pull it. Not really a problem though. Remember that they work best when submerged in water though...you need to squeeze the sponges and let them soak up the soapy water.

Ha ha ha ha, well lucky for me I am a clean fanatic and like to clean my horn out once every two months or so.
