Don't know the players, but it's Stan Kenton as the band leader.

Took one more listening, now via headphones.
The video (ed: should of course be stereo) separation is heavy in the center and to the right. It could be done with the most common Kenton line-up, but I cannot avoid wondering whether this recording includes the mellophone section that was in the band for a couple of years.
Klaus
Ed. for the horror of aphasia showing its ugly face. Only good thing is that it doesn’t discriminate: it is equally bad whatever language I might choose for expression.

Re: Another take on riding with Richard
It is definitely Stan Kenton. I have the album somewhere. It is a Capitol/EMI recording and came out in about 1964-65. Maybe that would help in identifying the players. I love this album but had forgotten about it until this posting; now I've got to find it and listen again.
Thanks,
Pete

Thanks Klaus, I wish I have heard this a month ago, when we played highlights from Götterdämmerung, to get the right feeling for Rich.imperialbari wrote:...http://www.spaceagepop.com/music/a011.mp3...

Information on one of the horn lists says real horns in this recording from LA. de Rosa among the horn players.

Here's an article that lists the personnel for this group.imperialbari wrote:Information on one of the horn lists says real horns in this recording from LA. de Rosa among the horn players.

Has that recording ever been transferred to CD?
