Hello me and my friends wanted to go around performing exams bush with our brass quintet. Does anyone know of a good book or collection that we can buy for this? Thank you.

With this book how do you buy the parts since is only says " part" and not what instrument.

For standard brass quintet instrumentation, you could do:

Part 1 - Bb (trumpet in Bb)
Part 2 - Bb (trumpet in Bb)
Part 3 - F (horn in F)
Part 4 - C (bass clef tuba)
Part 5 - Bb (trombone)

I have used those many times and they work nicely.

Also do check out Wade Rackley's arrangements as well as the Art of Sound Holiday Gig-Ready collections...there are a some pretty decent ones in each of those.

The combination joshwirt suggests would probably be considered a "standard" assignment. The books are set up to be used by whatever combination of instruments you managed to round up to play at the local red kettle or whatever. So you can assign any instrument to any part, using a book for that part in the appropriate key (if the player of that part only plays bass clef, make sure you get a bass clef book, otherwise it'll be treble, ala usual brass band arrangements). If you have the cash, get some of the parts in different keys (like 3 and 4 in Bb and well as in F and C) so you can swap parts around. We used them once with 4 trumpets, a trombone, and a euph. By the time we were done playing, everyone had had a shot at each part at least once, and we had a great time.
