Mahler 6

Post by nimrod480 »

Hi all!
I just finished playing Mahler 6 last night with the Iceland symphony orchestra!
I had a great time and thought the orchestra sounded great!
You are welcome to check it out here - http://ruv.is/sarpurinn/sinfoniutonleikar/02022012

If you want to skip to the 4th movement it starts around 101:40.

Would love to hear you comments!

Enjoy!

That's a great-sounding orchestra. Good job on the Mahler. All the brass had lots of projection and good intonation. The tuba was played in a very civilized fashion. And, it's nice for a change to hear a tympanist play with appropriate restraint and sensitivity. Mahler would have liked that. Congratulations on a fine performance, and thanks for posting.

Thanks for the link, great performance!
Last time we did that symphony was a nightmare with the trombone and tuba passage near the end. At the concert when we just started playing that passage then a mobile phone in the audience also started ringing, one signal, two, three, four... Somehow the signal was in tune with us and we continued to play and when we reached the end of the passage the phone also stopped...
