Here is my proposed playlist for an exciting new CD in conjunction with Jon (Neptune) at Wessex Tubas.
I have been playing his EEb, CC and Bubbie for a few weeks now and they are superb. My 981 Sovereign and PT-20 now live in the spare room.
Very much appreciate peoples thoughts on repertoire. It's not set in stone 'yet'
Horn Concerto No.1 (Strauss)
Fantasy for Tuba (Arnold)
Sonatina for Tuba (Ted Watson)
Gabriel's Oboe (Morricone)
Andante and Rondo (Capuzzi)
Oboe Sonata (Handel)
Excerpts from The Ring Cycle (Wagner)
with Longborough Opera Trombone section (http://www.lfo.org.uk" target="_blank)
Will be blogging the whole project on http://www.wix.com/ianjfoster/tuba#" target="_blank!
Many Thanks,
Ian

Re: TUBA CD ON WESSEX TUBAS
I am really excited by this Ian - sounds great programme and having heard Ian live the playing will be spectacular!
Apparently the plan is to play Gabriel's Oboe on the Bubbie travel tuba, the Wagner Ring excerpts on the Wessex rotary CC (JBCB-410) and the rest on compensated EEb (JBEB-700).
Ian Foster is also making some demonstration videos for YouTube which will no doubt show off the tubas better than my abilities can.
The CD will be for sale from Wessex Tubas so potential buyers of the tubas and those curious will have chance to hear in Hi-Fi what they can sound like before purchase - and it sounds like a really good listen too!
