New Arrangement for 3 F Tubas and Band Available

Post by Mr. Nesmith »

Bob Joles here. I just did a concert with the Laguna Community Concert Band on Feb. 19 featuring Gene Pokorny, Charlie Warren and myself. Along with several classics for band, Gene played Bluebells of Scotland (orchestrated by Micky Wrobleski) and Tubby the Tuba with me as the narrator. Gene and Charlie played the first movement of the Vivaldi Double Trumpet Concerto. And the three of us played my re-orchestration of Leroy Anderson's Tubaler's (Bugler's) Holiday.

When Gene first asked me what I thought of doing Bugler's Holiday for 3 tubas, I knew it would need to be reworked to a slightly higher key. So, I moved it up a fourth to Eb (it changes key to Ab and then back to Eb). It worked perfectly. I played 1st Solo Tuba, Charlie 2nd and Gene 3rd. We had a ball doing it and the audience LOVED the piece!

So, if any of you are interested in getting your own set of parts and score done in Sibelius (I still work in the Hollywood Studios as a copyist occasionally) please contact me privately at bobjoles@me.com" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank

Cheers!

P.S. As soon as I get the DVD of the concert I will be posting "Tubaler's Holiday" on YouTube. Stay tuned…
