I can see that the (non-handmade) Baer 6450 might cost somewhat more than a smaller tuba by the same manufacturer but I'm puzzled by the extent of the gap.
Baltimore Brass list:
Baer 6450 (Production) $20,875
Thor 5450 $11,880
So, not far off twice the price for a tuba with the same valveblock (to all extents and purposes), same grade of components and both presumably built in similar fashion in the same factory.
It is what it is, but can anyone shed some light (or just an opinion)?
Maybe production capability comes into play or just sales prices of certain models are kept (artificially?) high to keep a model prestigious? I certainly don't know...
Thanks,
MP
PS. BBC do have a couple other Thors in at $13k - still a big old gap, no?

Re: Big Price Difference...
If they can only make a certain number, and at that production level can find buyers at a given price, why would they sell them for less?
