balance depending on stages
i am lucky enough to be in a school with fantastic stage, but it is a double edged sword. with the clouds overhead and shells all around, my sound is always louder than i think it is. now here is the big problem. how can i adjust quickly to a stage without shells or clouds, or one with worse acoustics?

Someone out front needs to tell you how it is sounding.daktx2 wrote:i am lucky enough to be in a school with fantastic stage, but it is a double edged sword. with the clouds overhead and shells all around, my sound is always louder than i think it is. now here is the big problem. how can i adjust quickly to a stage without shells or clouds, or one with worse acoustics?

My opinion is that the product where you sit is the most important thing to worry about. A lot of times you can not control what the hall will do to your sound. make sure that your product is what you rehearsed and a comfortable with. That's all you can control.
It's really up to the director to adjust the balances in the hall. I play in a lot fo different halls, from gymnasiums to the dumpiest auditoriums. number one is to play the way you know how...the hall is what it is, and you can't do anything about it.
