I agree with Bloke. I would definitely trust Zwilich with my money. She's written two trumpet concertos, a horn concerto, a trombone concerto, and a bass trombone concerto, so there's no doubt in my mind that she knows how to write for brass. I've listened to three of the concertos above, and they've all been pretty darn good. The horn concerto is my fav so far.bloke wrote:I voted here, because I recorded a percussion ensemble & orchestra "concerto" (??) for release (with Ms. Zwilich on site) and was very impressed with the work itself and with her (rather humble) personality. I spoke with her a bit, and could possibly make contact if this ever became a more serious proposal.Ellen Taaffe Zwilich
Lots of good ideas going around. Now we just need to pick one....

I started on the first movement last night. I have the first 12 measures orchestrated so far. You guys can commission whomever you see fit, by I have also decided that it is time for me to do this. Because I am producing it myself, I have given myself a one year deadline. The more that I'm out of work the faster it's going to go.
I am recording it as I go along and am trying to produce a realistic performance with my Vienna Symphonic Library. I may be persuaded to post MP3 files of the progress somewhere down the line.
