Congrats on finding one in such great shape. How does it play?

It found me. I'm working on the genealogy, trying to gather info about production numbers, and how many 'survivors' there are.

If anyone on this forum has any experience with these horns.... I'm listening. Drop me an email.

Hey Dan, Great find and it appears to be in great condition. This is one of my favorite models of all time, not for playing but for looking at. What would it take to build one of these yourself? I would buy one.

I wouldn't attempt to build one of these horns. ... too many parts that aren't common to the other Kings. The inner and outer slide tubes and most of the crooks are the same but the large bows are entirely different.. as is the bell stack.

I'm not sure who made the rotary valve section but it's for certain it wasn't King. The stop arms and rear bearing plates are aligned with tiny dowel pins. I've seen a couple of rotors built this way but can remember who did make them.

I like the vintage ad:

"Heavily gold plated, bright burnished parts: $690"

$690... I'll take one... Or two!

One of these would be great for stand-up jobs (Polka, German band, Dixie?)
