Henry Gunckel?

Post by phaymore »

Does anyone have information on this manufacturer or this horn? I've got a friend who is repairing one right now and would like some history on it.

I did get a few specs on it if that helps...

Henry Gunckel, Paris
.758" bore
14.5 inch bell

Thanks!

I have very little information to add about Gunckel, but I do own a tenor horn made by him. It was imported around 1895 by Lyon & Healy, Chicago. I visited L&H in many years ago to learn more, but they said all their records had been lost in a fire, I think, in the 1930's. There is a little discussion of the Gunckel name here:

Maybe other members will have a little more detail.
