Awesome Concert Yesterday!

Post by tubafour »

Last night, I had the privilege of hearing the Tennessee Tech Tuba Ensemble perform live. I've had a CD for some time, but nothing compares to hearing the group in person. The work that Winston Morris does with the group is truly amazing. I also was introduced to him, which definitely began pulling me in the direction of going to school at Tech, despite how hard it is to get music scholarships.

Just wanted to tell you good folks about a great experience. I highly recommend that if you haven't yet heard them in concert, to do so. This has in a way gotten me even more pumped up before I go into my senior year of high school.

Oh yeah, I'm also excited because next weekend, I'm going to be in Cookeville for their Honor Band, and Winston invited me to come sit in on their practices! WooHoo!

Cheers to Winston Morris and the Tennessee Tech Tuba Ensemble :!: :!: :!:

Sounds great!

Went to a brilliant concert last night (Saturday) in the Royal Albert Hall, here in the UK, the Mountbatten Festival of Music with the massed bands of the Royal Marines.

Excellent playing and some good pieces including 'Independance Day' Windows of the World' (with 4 euphs standing solo in Celtic Dream) and the Finale from the Saint Seans 'Organ Symphony' with the newly restored organ.

Funniest thing was the begining of the concert. The bands are seated and a subtle tuning note is given and the sound gets to a warm level as all the different instruments join in. It then dies slowly and there is a moments silence until..........a huge pedal tuning note fortissimo on a lone tuba! who then stands to take his applause!

Brilliant.
