There is a San Francisco area musician Adam Theis who is also multi-instrumental (bone, tuba , bass) doing some very interesting things with a 50+ member "orchestra" and smaller ensembles. He will be at the San Jose Jazz Festival Aug 11th. Some great recordings on his site and on Spotify.
