looking for tuba teacher - sf bay area

Post by yemag »

Hi All,

I'm looking for a tuba teacher in San Francisco preferably or somewhere between San Francisco and San Jose, CA. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm a intermediate level player. Thanks!

You can IM Tony on here: tclements.

His Facebook profile is https://www.facebook.com/ttuba

He's here pretty often. Likely as not he'll see this thread anyway.

Obviously, I second Brian's recommendation of Tony as a teacher.

But if the commute between SF and SJ (Tony is in Campbell, a little northwest of downtown SJ) is too long for you, here are two other tuba people in the bay area: James Manganaro in Menlo Park (reachable through his music store, Bridgepoint Music), and Rod Mathews (you may have to google for him, or reach him through Tony). Those may be much closer to you, if you live a little south of SF.

Another tip: Google the Ohlone college tuba ensemble. About 30 tuba players, led by Tony Clements. That should be a rich trove of tuba connections in the bay area.
