I shall be there on the Friday. How does the orchestra finalist section work? What's the tuba part like? Is the tuba used in any other of the sections?

Hi dave,

I can't give away how the scene works and wouldn't want to spoil it for you but I think you'll enjoy it.

I'm only in one scene that lasts just over 40 mins.

The tuba part is tough, all from memory and flies around.

Come and say hi if possible.

Best wishes,

That is sounding more and more like a total trip, Ian. Rheingold opens tonight, apparently the first time Dove's edition has been done in German. What a blast!

How has it gone?

Great news hot of the press, the Stockhausen Foundation have kindly given me permission to record the tuba solo from Mittwoch aus Licht so will be on the CD due for release in November.

Ian

Sounds great, keep everyone posted about when the CD will be released! And I assume this will have to be ordered through the Stockhausen Verlag?

Hi Aaron,

Yes It's such a bonus to have on the disc.

The CD will be available through Wessex Tubas.

Here is the repertoire... Most of which is already recorded.

Handel Oboe Sonata in C minor
Bach Badinerie from Suite No.2
Strauss Horn Concerto No.1
Arnold Fantasy for Tuba
Gabriel's Oboe
Hartley Suite for Unaccompanied Tuba
Stockhausen Solo for Tuba and Electronic Music from 'Mittwoch aus Licht'
Ted Watson Sonatina for Tuba and Piano
Wagner Excerpts from 'The Ring Cycle' - With full low brass section

Hope people will enjoy the mix, please spread the word!
