Re: Mahler Rückert-Lieder
Not offhand, but the originals (with orchestra and piano) are on IMSLP:Mark wrote:Is anyone aware of a trancription of the Rückert-Lieder for tuba?

The range looks "do-able" if you read the voice part down an octave (or maybe two -- try it both ways and see what works).

Re: Mahler Rückert-Lieder
The problem with playing a male voice line one or two octaves down is the potential compromising of the intended bass line of any given piece.
I haven’t looked at more than the opening bars of this Mahler piece, which have the strings basses silent.
Over a decade ago a tuba player fell in love with a tenor aria from a Rossini opera. He wrote it two octaves down and kept the original octave of the bass line. When I heard the MIDI file, my worst complaint was that it didn’t sound like Rossini’s style. Doing a bit of analysis revealed a very typical Rossini bass line, which had been masked by the solo line going below it.
