Tuba Part Needed!

Post by Mr. Nesmith »

Howdy Gang!

The community band that I play with (L.A. Symphonic Winds) will be performing "The Crown of India Suite" by Elgar on Oct. 21. We read thru it last night but there are NO tuba parts to be found in the library. We had to read of the conductors score. That was interesting but a pain. The piece is "permanently out of print" according to B&H Publishing.

Do any of you out there in the Tubenet Universe happen to have a copy of or access to an original Tuba part to "The Crown of India Suite?" If you do, please contact me and arrangements for transfer of documents will be made. I'd be willing to send whomever has a copy of this music a couple of my brass quintet arrangements for FREE! Such a deal!

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Cheers,
Bob

Manuscript paper is a quick and practical solution. Use pen or pencil. I won't tell.

Having been a professional copyist for over 35 years, using both pen and paper as well as now working with Sibelius, I'm well aware that copying the part on my own is an option. But I was hoping that maybe somewhere out there someone might have a part and save me the time and effort. But thanks for the tip none the less!

Do you know the publisher and edition number?
I will check the library for you tonight at rehearsal.

A pro copyist should be able to knock out a page of manuscript in 10 minutes or so. (slower if you insist on using a notation program)

So how much time and effort have you invested so far looking through your library, contacting the publisher, posting on here, etc?

And there's still no guarantee that someone will find you the part. Then they would still have to scan and get it to you in some form.

Bloke's suggestion would work (albeit in a very poor way) if we had a full score. We do not. All I have is a 3 line condensed score. However, I now have found someone with access to the part, so problem solved.
