Tuba Excerpts

Post by tubajedimaster »

I decided to make a new tuba excerpts website, since there currently is not one that I am aware of. I do hope that I can make it as popular as "tromboneexcerpts.org". This is the link:

http://www.maisontetbrass.com/tubaexcerpt" target="_blank

Let me know what you think of it, and if it is easy to use. I will be updating it frequently.

The site is 100% made by me. Took several months of work, and editing. My colleague Dennis wrote most of the wordings, because, hes better with words than myself. If you need me to rebuild your website, I do actually do that kind of work. PM me about it. Just let me know exactly what you would need done.

When I click on the link should I already be seeing a list of excerpts, or is this still a work in progress?

I've talked about doing this before and even set up a website and started making it, but I just didn't have the time or knowledge of copyright law to do it. It'll be a great site I'm sure! :D

JediMaster,
When I went to your site using Opera as a web browser I saw the framework, but no exerpts were listed. Then tried it with Mozilla Firefox and saw three of them. I hope you can figure out how to make it work with most popular browsers.
Also: How does your offering differ from what's on the Cherry Classics CD-rom?

I've always wished us tuba players had the resources that our trombone playing colleagues did, and soon we may. Thanks for the hard work and I really look forward to this site developing into something great.

Thanks for the comments guys. I did want to hit a few topics.

jspeek ---

If it's not working it may be your browser. The <frames> only seem to work on Explorer and Firefox. I don't know about Safari. I know they don't work on Opera or Chrome. This is the same problem with tromboneexcerpts.org. I will look into the situation and see if there's any techy gurus that know how to remedy that. But for now that's all I'm aware of.

It's FREE! I'm not familiar with Cherry Classics CD-rom, but from what I can tell it gets rather expensive just to purchase a few excerpts. I will also be including as many if not more excerpts than they have available, over time of course. I will also be taking snippets from several recordings and posting them. The Tchaikovsky for example has 4 different recordings to listen to. Trombone excerpts has like 10 for each excerpt, but over time, (again this is no overnight project) I will be able to massively improve upon the significance of this resource. And again, the best part is they're free!

Definitely. I was jealous too. I finally decided to do something about it. I already owned and operated Maisontetbrass.com, but it seems like more of an advert site. Now it can be a resource as well!

If anyone else has any ideas for improving the site, (other than the browser problem) let me know.

I haven't been able to check it out, but it sounds like a good project to me. It would be great for students who cannot afford the Gordon Cherry CD.

I use Firefox and, clicking the link on Tubenet, I got the Centurylink search page with the message:

"The CenturyLink Web Helper service provides helpful search results to our customers when they would otherwise encounter web address errors. You are seeing search results offered by the CenturyLink Web Helper service because you clicked on an invalid link or entered an invalid Web address into the address bar of your browser. Misspellings and typing errors frequently cause these errors. In instances where the site you were looking for is clear, you may not see this page at all. Instead, the service may take you directly to the site."

If I then search for the http://www.maisontet" target="_blank page, I get an invalid link message.

I even "went over to the dark side" and tried Internet Explorer, and still got a "server not found" error message.......

Is anyone *really* surprised? This is a thread that hadn't been posted to for three years ...
