The piccolo player would be Lois Schaefer...and your EH should be Laurence (Larry) Thorstenberg who is in his mid80s and still kicking (as far as i know!)

I would choose Doriot Anthony Dwyer for flute. I admired her playing (2nd flute) in the 1950's with the Los Angeles Philharmonic before she became principal in the Boston Symphony. For trumpet it would be Bud Herseth (Chicago Symphony) and Thomas Stevens (LA Phil). Your choice of trombonist Gordon Pulis is excellent. I heard him in the mid 1950's when the New York Philharmonic came to Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, conducted by the young Guido Cantelli. William Vachianno was principal trumpet in that concert. My choice for horn would be Sinclair Lott (also LA Phil 1950's). I haven't heard a better horn player since.

I always enjoyed watching the Boston Pops of the 70s...the principal oboe in the Pops got a nickname, in my family, of "Mr. Eyebrows" for the movements he made while playing.

Nope. Pops. Bald and grey, almost a Sam Drucker look alike.

My favorite orchestral musician would be any and all that put me on the sub list, then hand me all the "boring" gigs that let me get paid a lot of money to play one "can't miss" mf middle range note on the first number in the first half so I can be home before the rest of the concert is over.
