US Open Brass Band Championships

Post by Lee Stofer »

The US Open Brass Band Championships will be on November 3rd, 2012, in St. Charles, Illinois. I know that the Eastern Iowa Brass Band will be there, as well as the Chicago Brass Band and the Brass Band of Central Florida, and at least five other bands. http://www.usopenbrass.org/geninfo.php" target="_blank" target="_blank

There is an exhibit hall, so in addition to hearing a number of fine bands entertain and compete, attendees will get to see and try the latest from a variety of manufacturers.

I'll also mention that I'll be exhibiting there, with Charles Hargett of Kanstul and my friend Chris Hite. Besides the instruments you'd expect to see in a brass band, we will have the new Kanstul 5-valve 5/4+ BBb there, and other goodies, including Schlipf tuba practice mutes, Hetman lubricants and a variety of mouthpieces. The Kanstul model 66 Eb tuba has been well-received by the brass band world, and the larger BBb was developed in response to a brass band's request for a larger BBb tuba than the 4/4 instrument.

I'll also have some basic tools on hand to assist in the event a bandsman has an instrument problem.

Depending upon your particular tuba, it would take either a Schlipf #2 or #3 practice mute. I have the #3 in stock, and am awaiting the next shipment for a #2 as they are sold-out at the moment.

I would encourage anyone to PM me if you wish to pick up a particular accessory at the show, so I can be sure and have it there.
