A few playing issues

Post by tuba1335 »

Hello all,

I am a college student playing with many ensembles at school and outside of it in the community. Whenever I play lyrically and pretty quietly, I have been getting these awful headaches. I am not sure why, but I generally just blame it on playing with too much tension in my jaw and body or something with my airflow. This is a pretty broad question, especially without actually seeing me play, but any ideas to help get rid of this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

well, you have given 2 possible answers, and an insight as to why you might not get much help. 1 possible reason is that you are holding too much breath for quiet playing, your body wants to exhale because of rising CO2 but if you don't, it could lead to headaches
