build consistency and such- St Pete Eb

Post by Bob Kolada »

I've read the issues with St. Petersburg Bb tubas over the years on here; do the rotary Eb's have the same problems? I played one at Midwest that was phenomenal (fantastic low range, good valves, great sound, funny slides? easy blow/kinda felt like a piston horn)! but I don't see my cheap self buying a new one...

-Fwiw, the TE guy told me St. Pete is working on 2 F tubas, a rotary and a piston. Might be interesting.

I Actually saw the rotor prototype here in Germany just last week. The guy who was working on it said it has a long way to go. I wouldn't expect to see one anytime soon.
