New Horn

Post by sailn2ba »

I've been trying to analyze horn recommendations on this board.
I'm an old guy, but I think I could learn any new fingerings necessary. . . up to 6 valves(?)
It seems like reccomendations are shifting to multivalve F horns. Is that so?

Yes, having more than one valve will be useful with an F tuba
Anyway, 6 valves make the lower register generally easier to play in tune, but if you're into pistons, there are really no 6 valve piston F's (46slp is the only one I can think of). If not, 6 valves cost more, weigh more, and again, limit your market a bit.
