Re: Pre-Perantucci B&S models

I doubt anyone has a complete list. Most pre-PT B&S tubas brought over into the US were stenciled under various and sundry names by distributors. The only exception I can think of is the B&S 'Symphonie' (aka 'bloke' model) F tuba. The others, mostly BBb's, tend to be tall rotary tubas with names like 'Sonora', 'Crown', etc.

Non-PT B&S tubas are still made: GR-51, GR-55, etc. If you ever have a chance to play a Musica BBb or CC rotary tuba, go for it. The B&S-made 'Musica' tubas were imported by UMI (now Conn-Selmer) in the late 1990's/early 2000's. Great tubas, imo. :tuba:

The older 'Musica' tubas were made by Cerveny.

B&S: Blechblas- und Signal-Instrumenten-Fabrik.
GDR: German Democratic Republic - pre 1991.

You should contact Klaus. At some point I am sure that he had the old B&S catalogs in his galleries.

We can also try to compile a list here. I have personally owned the following (or do still own):
F: 5v "Symphonie" B&S and 4v "Weltklang" (B&S stencil) helicon.
Eb: 3v "Weltklang" (B&S stencil) helicon.
CC: 4v B&S
BBb: 4v "Symphonie" B&S.

All of them have been excellent horns.

I know that they also made Eb tubas as well as BBb helicons. Below are pictures of the horns that have come trough my hands:
