Does anyone have any good recommendations for where to find scores and parts for brass band literature here in the States?
The only places I've found online are in the U.K.; prices are in pounds sterling and expensive shipping.
I've got a brass band and need some good music: 4-6 tpts (w/flugelhorns etc.), 4 horns, 4 tbns, 2 euph, 2 tubas.
In particular, I'm looking for arrangements with Bb trumpet parts, F or Eb horns, and concert pitch everything else - not going to ask the band to learn to read Bb treble clef parts... yet.
I started to transcribe an old score of Holst's Moorside Suite and then got hopeful that someone already did it!
Also, any suggestions for good (available) brass band pieces would be appreciated.

Technically, what you are calling brass band is incorrect as far as the webstores are concerned. I play in an ensemble with almost exactly that same instrumentation + percussion. I am primarily responsible for finding new lit. Look under:"Large Brass Choir" or "Large Brass Ensemble"Trevor Bjorklund wrote:Does anyone have any good recommendations for where to find scores and parts for brass band literature here in the States?

Scott is correct. You are not really looking for Brass Band music unless you have the instrumentation wrong. A traditional Brass Band has cornets, a soprano cornet in Eb, Eb tenor horns, baritones, euphoniums, a flugelhorn, trombones, a bass trombone, Eb and Bb tubas and percussion. All are in treble clef except the bass trombone and I think the tympani. As mentioned above Solid Brass Music is the sole US source and they do a fine job. I have dealt with Scott and Casey ever since they bought the company about a year ago.

In particular, Scott is a bloodhound. If there's a piece available anywhere for anything, he can usually hunt it down.

Re: Where to get brass band music in the US?
Thanks, All!
Definitely going to pick up some scores and read them with the group.
Also, and at the risk of horrifying the purists, I'm gonna program some "brass band" music (alongside the American stuff) with my "large brass ensemble" and see what happens. Luckily, my trumpet players are fairly flexible and can read Eb parts. The trumpet-oriented baritone/euphonium players can read Bb and that leaves me with only a small amount of transcribing to do. Thankfully, this is actually something that Finale is good at - it's quite easy to enter the notes in the transposed brass band keys and then hit a button and have some or all revert to concert pitch. Definitely going to finish a complete transcription of the Moorside Suite, though.
