While reading this work getting ready for a program in a couple weeks, I came across something I had never seen before. I don't believe the conductor ever had, either, as he was as confused as I was.
Down near the end- http://conquest.imslp.info/files/imglnk ... oniNr3.pdf" target="_blank page 70 [?], there is a meter marking for 3/1, then the French [my HS-French translation:] 138= half note, then: 1 measure=the 3 preceding measures. As the preceding meter was cuttime, in 2, it would seem as if the new meter is to be counted in 6 half notes @ 1 beat apiece, but at the new [138] tempo.Suffice it to say there was a lot of confusion. Does anyone have a definitive interpretation?
Thanks!
