Petruschka F mouthpiece

Post by rascaljim »

Hello all,

I've been using a PT-65 with my Miraphone Petruschka tuba since I bought a few years ago. I'm completely satisfied with the sound, flexibility, and pitch I get with using it.

I've been having some serious issues with my lips swelling. I think it might be related to the size of the rim. I'm hoping to find something smaller. (I switched from a Laskey 30 to a 28 and I've not had any issues with swelling on my C tuba (Nirschl York))

Anyone have any luck with a different mouthpiece? I'm only interested in what works on a Petruchka. I think every horn is mouthpiece specific and I've owned a ton of mouthpieces in the past so I'm hoping to narrow this down quickly.

I used to play the GW Baer stuff on my previous stable of tubas, but they just don't work for me with my current horns.

I thought that the 28C was a pretty good match with the Petruschka.

It will be a the same rim that you use on your CC, too.
+1

This is exactly what I was going to suggest. I use a Laskey 30H on my Nirschl York and a 30F on my cimbasso and Willson Eb. I enjoy the rim consistency in that approach. I use a 30C with my Miraphone 184 CC and it really works nice. I don't own a Petruschka so others will have to comment on how the 30C would work there but that would be my first guess. Good luck!

P.S.> Curmudgeon?!?!?!? Hardly!!!!
My opinion for what it's worth...
