I hear bananas help, at least this site claims they can help with dry skin.

I'm not sure if I am a big fan of rubbing bananas and butter all over my hands but if it works I might do it anyway.

You might have spilt valve oil somewhere on the horn/in the case. This would make your hands dry.

Drink more water.
Drink more water.
Drink more water.

We are what we put into ourselves. So many people these days get the majority of their fluids from coffee, soft drinks, sugary juices, etc...

I bet if you drank a gallon of water every day, or whatever the recommended amount might be for someone your size, you would see a major difference in your skin along with other health improvements you might not even be noticing.

The number one culprit in skin problems, headaches, aches and pains, and many other common discomforts in our bodies comes from dehydration. Caffine doesn't help.

So refreshing.

If it's really just dry skin and not a rash, I wouldn't worry too much about it, just keep drinking water like Smokeman said and using lotion. I always carry hand cream since I tend to be dehydrated all the time too.

If it's more of a rash though, it would probably be from valve oil or slide grease. I used to get a rash on my left forearm where I would rub against my 4th valve slide.

Although some moisture from our breath is from our body, most of it is a result of turning oxygen into carbon dioxide. Someone else can probably explain it better, but that's as much as I know. Still a valid point though. The mouth and lungs are a wet place that is no doubt drying out every time you breath in deep for a downbeat.

Forget what everyone says about 'daily recommended doeses of water' just drink water. period. flavored water, poland spring carbonated stuff, tap, even propel. everything else is full of crap. lol. when your thirsty, drink water. when your not thirsty, have your bottle of water next to you. try it. i only drink water, and an occasional beer or 6 every 2 weeks, but serisouly, youll even lose weight! promise.

I wish i had dry hands... the oils in my hands are eating right through my tuba!!!

Try playing with gloves on. If you don't get the problem, it is a contact allergy. If you do, it is water.
