Looking for a tuba ....

Post by tclements »

Friends,

Years ago (1976, I think), I sold my first tuba. I am trying to locate it. If ANYONE can find it, it HAS to be someone lurking here. It is a Meinl Weston Bill Bell Model. It has a removeable upright bell. The bell was inscribed with the old "A Division of Getzen." The 5th valve was on the left side, but Larry Minick rigged up a right thumb lever (made out of a horn lever, I think) for me with a string that went across the back. The main tuning slide was narrow, as opposed to the later version of this model that had a wide main slide. There is (was) a ring on the first valve slide and the first valve was vented (by Minick). There was a small dent on the 3rd valve tubing, right under the palm of your right hand. There is a picture of me holding that tuba on my FB page. It came with the old (flimsy) wooden case with red fuzzy stuff inside.

Added later: Also, Minick converted the old S-linkages to nylon balls & sockets.

If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.

Thank you!
Tony Clements
