CLEVELAND, OHIO, October 17, 2013 – Massimo La Rosa, Principal Trombonist of The Cleveland Orchestra, has recorded his second CD, Sempre Espressivo, featuring standard works from the trombone repertoire, J.S. Bach's Suite no. 1 in G major for Solo Cello (performed on trombone) and a new arrangement of the famous Intermezzo from Puccini's Manon Lescaut. Sempre Espressivo follows La Rosa's debut solo recording, Cantando, which was praised by critics worldwide, including American Record Guide, which wrote that the recording contained “readings that may be the best available.” Sempre Espressivo was produced and engineered by the multiple GRAMMY award winning team of Elaine Martone, Thomas C. Moore and Michael Bishop from Sonarc Music and Five/Four Productions. Elizabeth DeMio is the pianist and harpsichordist. The recording also features four of La Rosa’s esteemed colleages from The Cleveland Orchestra: violinists Amy Lee and Katherine Bormann, violist Stanley Konopka and cellist Paul Kushious. CD Sales to Benefit Medical Research
A portion of the proceeds from the sales of Sempre Espressivo will be donated to the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to finding a cure for dystonia. Massimo La Rosa said, “I have many musician friends who have had to deal with this devastating condition, and I hope you will join me in supporting the important research of the DMRF.”
