Stolen Tuba - found!

Post by drow2buh »

My dear friend and fellow tuba teacher at Valdosta State University had his CC tuba stolen from his office today. We are asking that everyone please keep their eyes peeled.

It is a Meinl Weston 2155, lacquer/brass (not silver). They kicked his door frame in and took the tuba and a gig bag.

I am weirdly suspicious because it happened while he was running marching band rehearsal and they took the tuba and the bag, but left the mouthpiece.

Please keep your eyes on eBay, Craigslist, etc. If you see a MW 2155, let me know on Facebook, email, whatever.

I sometimes forget to login here, so please email me.

Thanks!

Re: Stolen Tuba - help!

Thanks for the help!

This post apparently helped immensely in the end, as the tuba got found in an attempted sale and I got a few e-mails.

Does someone (a high-up admin, Sean, whoever) have the ability to find deleted posts, etc.?

I got one specific e-mail saying they thought they saw a post for a 2155 for sale on TubeNet that is now deleted.

If Sean or an Admin can find that post and help us with an IP address, account name, e-mail address, etc., that will help us immensely with proof, evidence, etc.

I will be checking this site here and there tonight, but I also get e-mail immediately and directly to my phone, so please feel free to e-mail me:

Thanks so much TubeNet for your help! You guys rock!

I should add that there is a suspect, but we have not yet found the physical tuba, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Based on other posts, I have a potential username, etc. for this person if an admin can contact me.

Thanks!

I hope they find the tuba. They should tar and feather the rat bastard(s) who took it.

Maybe the OP could modify the title to take the urgency out of this thread?

Sorry guys, this happened amongst a slew of gigs and being busy.

A suspect was arrested that night and the tuba was found the next morning. The alleged suspect is a student of ours that failed/dropped out a couple of weeks ago. The suspect appeared before a judge and is charged with 3 felonies. The suspect is out on bail from what I've heard and is long gone from VSU. We are just waiting for a court date or whatever happens next.

With big thanks and help from many tubenet users and the tubenet mods, we have received lots of help! Thanks everyone!
