Tuba in Oman

Post by quesonegro »

Does anybody know if they have a tuba player in the Royal Symphony Orhestra of Oman? If so, who is it?
I'm going there in a couple of weeks, playing at the Opera house in Muscat and need to find out if it's possible to find an F-Tuba to play...

Also the National Symphony (Washington DC) was in Oman (I think that is was Oman!) in the last year. You might be able to find out more from the NSO tuba player.

That tuba looks like a 3+1 BBb tuba, which reminded me of Oman having a British style military band. That band at least 30+ years ago was a frequent guest at European tattoos. A video:

Looks like the Omanis prefer 3+1 instruments in Eb and BBb.
