Multiple tonguing trouble: Vocal Chords

Post by NotABaritone »

Hello Folks,

I am having issues with multiple tonguing, particularly triple tonguing.

A few problems that may be individual or related. I am not sure:

-On the horn (when there is resistance), I can hear my voice kick in once in a while on the 'k' consonant. Its very strange, but its a slight grunt every once in awhile. I am trying to make it my goal to simply push the tongue out of the way with air. My 'k' or 'g' feels heavy and 'sticks' to the roof of my mouth, slowing my speed down.

This is my major concern ^^^^^

with that:

I notice in triple tonguing patterns up a scale, I have more trouble the higher I go (Eb Major scale starting in the staff, trouble arises around D). I try and focus on not holding the air back as I go higher, but I stumble on my tongue more in that range.

Any speculations or suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

I tried to do some research and have gone through the following forum, which talks about vocalizing the 'd' and 'g' sound (or 't' and 'k'). viewtopic.php?f=2&t=42229&hilit=throat+ ... g&start=12" target="_blank
