Case/Gig Bag for a King 1240

Post by Pat S »

What would be an appropriate case or gig bag for a fixed bell King 1240? Thanks!

Are talking about a fixed recording bell?

An original HN White hard case.

Other than that, you're looking at a custom ($$$) bag
Finding an original case could be tricky. Has anybody seen an original case for the fixed recording bell 1240?

My 1240 came with the case. I'm not sure where you could get one. It's a big wooden case. It looks sort of like the cases used for bell front baritones, but tuba sized.

The original cases are in extremely short supply, and have not been made in over half a century. Donna Altieri has made a custom gig bag for one of these, and for other rare instruments. They are by special order, but there is no extra charge, since they are all individually made, anyway, and because Donna is such a nice person.

I use the Protec "large" tuba bag (model C241) for my 1241.

I sold the only one I'd ever seen to a guy in northern Ohio about eight years ago.

Those cases are rare birds!
