Holton BB460 removable valve section

Post by Greg Lecewicz »

https://scontent-b-atl.xx.fbcdn.net/hph ... 0518_o.jpgThe valve section attaches to the lead pipe with a nut and o ring, the rest of the connectors are with a regular screws. There is no stamp where it was made but it has a copper leadpipe so maybe Jinbao makes them for Holton. It looks identical to Yamaha YBB-321 with some finishing differences ( no nickel plating). I've never seen one like it. I've checked the images on the web and all showing the solid connections. Holton had some made in a Czech Republic maybe it's a combination China- Czech, USA ? Stainless steel valves not as precisely made as the Yamaha but they work fine. Thoughts?

I've compared the other Holtons BB460's and Yamahas YBB-321 looking at on line images. They all have the solid connections. Even the QUINN-the-Eskimo had photographed one for sale with the soldered joints and I bought it from him. This one must be different somehow and I wonder why ? I've seen different models with a removable valves usually the upgraded ones like the " pro" models.

Holton has changes suppliers... you can surmise the new source.

However, Conn/Selmer is pretty good about quality control, regardless of the source.
