My adventure to DC with the Gnageyphone..
GoodMorning Lovly people...I went to DC to meet Lee and Joe to have them check out my horn and see if it needed any adjustments....Thursday I left the house at 4:40am It took 41/2 hours on what usually takes 2..I got there in time to see Dr swoboda lecture..(Hell!! I was tired already and the day was just starting!!)I took an outside seat to relieve the pain in my leg... and that's where I sat most of thursday.....I noticed that the first day was mostly euphoniums playing.... I appreciated how good they were but being that I try to play tuba...Bring on the tubas!!<s>)...Friday...Got up early and loaded up on pain pills...Ready to go...I couldn't wait to meet every body some I don't know maybe you all could help..I met Lee first...Called him Joe...That went over big<S>..After touring the elephant room I finally met Joe... What a nice guy!He worked on my horn for over an hour trying to figure out the valves...Next was Lee..He was very busy so I left my horn there..He didn't really get a chance to tear it down and look closly at it he was very busy...He did sit down and play a little of the ride and said there was nothing he could do to improve the performence there...I took pictures the whole time I was there anybody know these guys<s>...Sunday drove home with Tuba music echoing in my head waiting for next year!! ...Please let me know if your in the pictures...BB

That looks like it's a 6/4 sized Gagney or is it just the angle of the photos. What is it about the horn you are trying to improve Bob? I'm curious as to what Lee thought about doing to it. His viewpoint would certainly be a good one to listen to.

This is his first 6/4 CC ..a prototype and cosmeticly it's unfinished I also wanted a little faster action on the pistons....Joe helped me the most he worked for and hour on my pistons..He thinks according to his measurements that the #2 might be from an olds instead of king...He gave me some springs that are making the horn work faster/better..Lee played it and said there was nothing he could do to improve it...He liked the horn....I think<s>I would like him to change the thumb mech.and improve the action which were talking about..............................BBtofu wrote:That looks like it's a 6/4 sized Gagney or is it just the angle of the photos.
