Schneider was used when the GDR needs for hard currencies had B&S cheat on their own exclusive contracts with national importers.

The renaming took odd routes. My 5 valve single Bb horn is a B&S because the official B&S name for their top horns was Hoyer, which they could not sell though my retailer because another retailer had the exclusive Hoyer rights in Denmark.

eBay has seen a lot of high end GDR brasses sold out of Bulgaria. Often under the Weltklang brand, which was put on the best brasses to avoid the Bulgarians reselling them to the West. GDR wanted that hard currency for themselves.
