Gabe Russ

My uncle Gabe Russ played with the band from 1925 thru 1927. I was just a small tyke at the time but my dad took me to a lot of band concerts......as I was not born til 1929 I did not see Uncle Gabe play with Sousa, I did get to see him play with the Long Beach concert band in 1948 and 1949. He had a magnificent Sousaphone with gold embellishment inside the lip of the bell. My dad played wind instruments with Meril Evans Ringland Brothers circus band for a few years and later was soloist with Lum and Abners Silver Cornet Band......good old days
