Orlando/Central FL group warmup class, July 1st.

Post by Chris Olka »

This is also posted in the events section of the forum but, since time is short I thought I'd also post here:

Hey guys, I finally have a place lined up in the Central Florida area for a free group warmup and class on July 1st, at All Saints Church in Winter Park. It's address is:
338 E. Lyman Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789

The class is scheduled tentatively from 1:30-3:30pm. Tell your tuba, euphonium, and low brass buddies to bring their horns and make some noise. It should be fun. Also, thanks to Thomas Sims and Bob Carpenter for helping get the ball rolling on setting up a venue.

If your a tubenetter and plan on attending, please keep hitting this thread/bumping to give us an idea of how many folks to expect.

Thanks and looking forward to catching up with you all.

Best,

After attending the warm up class in NJ put on by Dillon's a little bit ago, I highly recommend anyone in the are going to this.

You are about to see what pushing your limits really means! Enjoy!

What is a "Warm up" class? I assume it is a class about learning how to warm up before practice/performances.

Is it geared towards students? I am trying to decide if a middle aged amateur player (myself) should take off work to attend.

Well, in a nutshell, everybody brings their horns and we warmup together. I discuss the "what" and "why" of my warmups and how every player of every level can benefit from it. Usually most of the things I do can be adapted to any level of playing, scales, long-tones, etc. However, the intended take-away from the class is that you don't need a method book to A) get a great warmup and B) carve out personal growth in your playing on a daily basis.

I also take time to do some demonstrating of certain techniques along with discussion of equipment, embouchure, breathing, etc.

A numbe of examples can be viewed on my YouTube channel here:

With the price of admission being free...I guarantee you'll get what you paid for from the class. Hope you can make it and tell a friend.

Is there any chance there will be a recording of the class for us Euro tubenetters?
