Brett,
Now that I know you are happy with how the horn plays, I'll tell you what I had to change for you so that I could get a good solder joint on the leadpipe receiver area. The first inch or so of the leadpipe was squeezed in by someone (most likely done at the factory) so that they could fit the sleeve portion of the mouthpiece receiver over the leadpipe. There were 3 or 4 flat surfaces instead of the pipe being round. I did some dent work to get it a bit round and give me some nice solder contact area. Also, the mpc rcvr on your Rudy is actually two pieces. The ornamental end that the mpc fits into is only about .5" deep. That fits into a sleeve that fits over the end of the leadpipe. Glad you like how it plays. I do too.

Hey Matt, thanks for the details, very interesting! That's certainly nothing I would have ever thought about, I'm sure that played a major role in improving the tuba.

Guess the pressure is on me now, though... no room left to blame the horn. :P
