Any observations on the Hercules EZ-Safe tuba stand?
. . . horn safety, portability, adaptability to different horns.

Re: Tuba Stand
I have this stand and strictly use it to hold a large , top heavy Reynolds contempora. It doesn't work well if you want to play the horn while in the stand. It is very solid and I consider it very safe.

Re: Tuba Stand
I have this stand and it is substantial. I have used it for my Miraphone 186, YEB-321 & a VMI 3301. There were no problems with the support it provided. The biggest problem I have is that it is a pain to carry to gigs because it is a heavy addition to all the other stuff I have to cart. Secondly, it is fairly large and often there just is isn't space available in the performance space. I only take it on gigs when I absolutely have to carry two horns. ...hope this helps.

Re: Tuba Stand
If you want a PLAYING stand, look no further than the Baltimore Brass version: portable, 6lbs, sturdy, adjustable, built like a tank. There have been a lot of discussions on this topic, so you can see the results. The BBC stand usually wins the day pretty much hands-down.

Re: Tuba Stand
Sorry...I was describing the resting stand. I didn't even know they had a playing stand until I saw the response following my original response.

Re: Tuba Stand
Didn't the Yamaha Air-lift get some great reviews for being light, usable as a playing and resting stand but also capable of carrying a heavy tuba?

Re: Tuba Stand
My 2341 lives on a Hercules at home when not being played and it is very solid provided all three contact points are engaged.
Usually I lay it on the body case when out on gigs so don't take the stand. I've ordered another as well as a DS551B for the York helicon.
