Decibel level on my CC horns

Post by BATsforlyfethorbaer »

So I always keep a decibel meter on my stand. I can get my F tubas in the mid and high range really loud at this point. I think I've hit nearly 100 db once when I was really warmed up and playing the Penderecki. How come when I play my CC horns in the same registers, I can't hit the same amount of db? They are BATs, so they are supposed to be the loudest right? Any information would be great! Thanks.

That's pretty entertaining. I don't think we've seen a fake profile in quite a while. This one is good for a laugh! :tuba:

the 75-ton "Wall of Sound" used by the Grateful Dead in 1973-4 consisted of 89 300-watt solid-state and three 350-watt vacuum McIntosh tube amplifiers
generating a total of 26,400 watts of audio power through 586 JBL loudspeakers. The system projected high quality playback at 600 feet
with an acceptable sound projected for a quarter mile. Four semi-trailers and 21 crew members were required to haul and set up the two 75-ton systems,
one of which would go ahead to the next city on a tour while the other one was being used. The other would then "leapfrog" to the next show.
The first Wall of Sound shows were in February 1973 and the last in October 1974 during the legendary closing week at Winterland memorialized in The Grateful Dead Movie.

The problem is they are CC tubas. BBb tubas do not experience the same issue. That is why most Sousaphones are in BBb - for when volume matters.

Trolling reel? Isn't that a mythological dance from the Scottish Highlands? I wouldn’t trust the expert of this thread - he only knows about Glasgow.

And here all along I thought "trolling" was hiding under a bridge to catch unsuspecting goats and other small animals for dinner. Silly me!!! :P

Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?
