High Energy Stage Band in Search of Euphonium/Baritone Horn Player! (Seattle)
We are a five-year old band that plays brass and string repertoire from (predominantly, but not exclusively) the Balkans and southeastern Europe. Our repertoire includes traditional folk tunes as well as pop & disco. We bring a high amount of energy to our shows and play at venues that range from your neighborhood watering hole to the Columbia City Theater. We occasionally play in (and between) Portland and Vancouver, BC, with aspirations of traveling to California in the next year. We rehearse weekly on Monday nights and gig between 1-3 times a month.
We are looking for a long-term new member to fill out our mid-brass section who can read charts and play by ear. (Deciphering skills are also acceptable if you are not a strong sight-reader.) Please have solid chops from any musical background and be willing (if you are not already familiar) to learn about the Balkan musical genre. Having an interest in soloing is appreciated.
You must be able to work as a team with your section-mates as well as with the larger band, and be able to give and receive feedback. You must also be available for Monday night rehearsals. A sense of humor and a sense of the absurd are also pluses.

Long term gig opportunity for a Euph/Baritone in Seattle
This group is one of my favorite Seattle Balkan (and other Eastern European styles) Brass Bands - they have a great attitude about the music they play and they have a lot of fun doing it. I have seen them perform many times and they never fail to entertain. High quality, can be very traditional, yet are sometimes very silly. It is a total performance. This video is sort of representative of their performances. (they have many other videos on Youtube.) Probably not a high paying position, but they do play a lot.
