Hi all,
I hava a Yamaha NEO BBb tuba. Leadpipe is soldered to bell, would tuba sound better if I unsoldered the leadpipe from the bell ?

Re: Soldering ?
I have lifted/floated the leadpipe on a couple of my tubas. IMO, doing that makes more difference in the feel & response of the tuba more than the sound. My tubas feel & respond a little more 'lively' than before, with minimal (if any) 'liveliness' added to the sound "out front". You will get more change/difference in sound by changing mouthpieces (seriously) than floating the leadpipe around the bell
If you want to do this to your tuba, keep in mind it will "mess up" the finish where the leadpipe was soldered to the bell
