True about the rim feel & diameter, but the M1 (at least the one I've got) is shallower than the Conn. It plays with a brighter sound, and I used it for some solo recitals and whatnot.

The M1 is, overall, probably more like a Schilke Helleberg II.

With the "thumb test" (admittedly unscientific), my thumb goes into the regular CH about 1/8" more than into the M1.

Maybe the shape at the bottom of the cup affects how far my thumb can go in there.
