Those tubas were bought with money the band earned from playing in Clint Eastwood's Mystic River, among other appearances.
True story.

Sounds strange, I like it. Tell us about the rig to get that sound. Envelope follower?
Looked like something in the bell too.
Thanks for posting

They've also performed in Black Mass and are visible in the trailer for a split second:grahamroese wrote:Those tubas were bought with money the band earned from playing in Clint Eastwood's Mystic River, among other appearances.

Glad you like it! I've got an Audio-Technica Pro-35cW clip-on mic taped in the bell. I found that the depth actually matters a lot. The deeper it is, the bassier it sounds, and the less potential there is for feedback. The mic feeds into an Alesis io|26 external audio interface, which is hooked up to a Macbook Pro running Ableton Live, which has a saturator, compressor, and auto-filter. The auto-filter's cutoff frequency follows an envelope that's triggered by a button press. Once the envelope starts, a metronome turns on for the drummer. I'm looking forwards to developing a solo act based around this kind of stuff. Ableton is incredibly robust when it comes to effects, looping, and automation.groovlow wrote:Sounds strange, I like it.
