Where are the Eastman EBC632s?
Anyone received one from the shipment that arrived on the West Coast about a month ago? Mine hasn't shown up yet.

Mine came in the beginning of July and I ordered it in mid April. I contacted Eastman about the shipment and it sounds like they are overwhelmed with the demand. It should be delivered soon!

Hi-
Your patience will be rewarded. The Eastman CC 4/4 is a delight to play. You can use it in quintet and can color it like a 3/4 or use it and 'push it' to produce a large 5/4 'no edge' sound in Orchestra, or use it for chamber/pit work as a 4/4. Incredibly versatile, beautiful crystal clear sounding, impeachable intonation instrument--you'll be glad you waited!!

Is this similar to what happened with the Wisemann shipment about 6 months ago, where it got held up in the docks in CA for a long time?
Such a bummer that these aren't made in the US... American made tubas would ship faster!

Now that the multi-level sales networks are gone... it shouldn't be that expensive to make tubas here in the US. Maybe Marcus Theinert will look into that now that he is with Conn/Selmer/Steinway.MikeMason wrote:And cost so much we prolly wouldn't be discussing them
The manufacturing costs are a lot less than one might think! It's the 'dealer', 'jobber', 'wholesaler', 'retailer' scheme that used to cost dearly.
Hell.... now you can buy five tubas direct from JinBao... keep one for yourself and sell the other four at a 20% markup and have a free horn!
I'm 100% ready for a US supported manufacturing program and a steady supply of repair parts. Something the industry hasn't done for a long time.

I think that was a dock strike. It appears the current problem is simply supply and demand.bort wrote:Is this similar to what happened with the Wisemann shipment about 6 months ago, where it got held up in the docks in CA for a long time?

I recall a time -- '50s or '60s -- when manufacturing cost needed to be about 20 percent of the undiscounted retail price.TubaTinker wrote:The manufacturing costs are a lot less than one might think! It's the 'dealer', 'jobber', 'wholesaler', 'retailer' scheme that used to cost dearly.

Took delivery Saturday. Six months after ordering, so they must be a little scarce. It definitely lives up to all the glowing reviews. Playing it is just more "secure" than what I'm used to, and it has a big, rich sound.
Unexpected: All four valves are vented.

The more you play the horn, the more you will like it....you can really PUSH it if needed and yet it can also 'sing' in settings like a quintet... and the intonation is marvelous...have fun....jsmn4vu wrote:Took delivery Saturday. Re: Where are the Eastman EBC632s?
Dillon Music just got a few more silver plated Eastman EBC632S CC tubas from Eastman. After I go through my quality control on each horn, I will be letting the corresponding person on the waiting list know I have a tuba for him/her to try. I have more on order.

If Matt Walters is getting partial shipments (as I've heard), you KNOW they're in demand!Matt Walters wrote:Dillon Music just got a few more silver plated Eastman EBC632S CC tubas from Eastman.
