Cannonization Mass of Blessed Junipero Serra

Post by JustinLerma »

Hi All,

Just thought I would pop in and let every one know that tomorrow at 4:15 PM Eastern, the Pope will be holding a televised Mass at The Catholic University of America.

The Mass has a lot of nice brass moments in it and the CUA Orchestra is joined by the Washington Symphonic Brass. Myself and Dave Zerkel will be playing tuba and from what I hear, the brass (tuba in particular) has been mic'd very well. Should be a nice concert and mass.

Best,
Justin

Cool. I have a friend on the CUA faculty who was talking on Facebook about being pleased to get a ticket. I'll watch for several reasons now! Or rather I will watch the beginning and record it to watch more fully later, since I'll have to get on the road to the USMB concert soon after it starts.

Will the program be on a national network? (Is there a national Catholic network which might carry it? There is a Catholic radio network but video would be nice.)

I'm not a Catholic but I like the music and there is something about the current Pope I kinda like...

Edit: Listening to it now on CTV's live radio stream. Very nice brass playing.
Thanks. The canonization is available on Catholic TV as one of their broadcasts. Da Pope is live in Congress at this moment (0700 PDT).

House Speaker John Boehner to resign at end of October

“Obviously the pope had a big impact on him, said Rep. Richard Nugent (R-Fla.) ” That’s about the most selfless act I’ve sever seen, willing to step down to save this country and save this nation.”

Nugent, who did not support Boehner in the January speaker election, said the room was uniformly shocked — including McCarthy, who told the conference immediately afterwards that he had only a moment’s notice of Boehner’s decision, Nugent said.

One down, one (at least) to go!!

Forgive me for doubting you, Your Holiness!!

And who told you he negotiated his speakership until the Pope came?

The Walker "Laudate, Laudate Dominus" hymn was a striking piece of music. Not familiar to me before then, but it's been running in my head for two days.

I like to think of him as Pope Pancho, or in Spanish, Papa Panchito.
