Has anyone out there tried either or both of these tubas? Their dealers are half way across the country for me. I'd appreciate some input.
Thanks

Re: Wessex "Strauss" F 5v vs. Schiller "Frankfurt" F 6v
Wessex Strauss is a PT-15 clone. Schiller 'new' version 6v F appears to be a PT-16 clone.
Wessex has a gold brass bell. Schiller yellow brass.
The PT-10/15 Clone is sold at Wessex, MACK (red brass bell), Packer ( better build version & higher price),Dillon, TubaMM, etc. See reviews of it on Tubenet.
'New' Schiller 6v F--don't know if anyone has played one.
I had a PT-10/15 clone....nice, but nothing IMHO like the Wessex Berg F. Amazing tuba.
Your best bet.....go to the Army Tuba Conference in two weeks and play F tubas yourself!
Good luck!
